Marshfield
Fair Model Railroad

The Marshfield Fair Model
Railroad will celebrate its 9th year at the fair
in 2009.The model railroad is 400 square feet and can run 8 trains
at
once on 7 main lines. The model railroad started in 2000 by
Marshfield resident Dave Suffredini as a small 8 by 16 layout, due
to its popularity
it was expanded during the next few years to its current size of 8
x 40,
on 2 levels. The model railroad needs 4 large transformers to
power the trains, buildings and all the lights on the layout.
When visiting the model railroad
you can see replicas such as the
American Freedom Train, Southern Crescent Limited, Boston PCC
trolley from the Mattapan-Ashmont line and the Riverside Branch of
the Green Line, MBTA commuter rail train, Amtrak and a Coors
Silver
Bullet train.
For a small fee you can take the
controls of one of the select trains and drive a train.
We also have a model railroad
quiz that is simple and easy to do, as
all the answers can be found somewhere on the model railroad
layout.
We randomly draw a winner on the last Sunday of the fair and you
could
win a Thomas the Tank Engine train set .If you would like to be a
sponsor and have your business represented on the Marshfield Fair
Model Railroad, please contact Dave for more information at
